Ride 5
Prichard Lake

Scenic Beauty

A magnificent trail that snakes alongside and encircles a mountain lake, offering up numerous dramatic views?  Yes please!  You have to pay to play though, and the price is a 1.8 km climb up to the lake.

Safety

This ride utilizes 100% car-free mountain bike type trails.  Avid mountain bikers rate these trails as green or easy. Those new to trail riding may find the climbing and terrain challenging.  Riders should be comfortable with the presence of some roots and rocks before attempting this ride.

Keep your eyes on the prize!  Distraction could cause quite a splash–highly unlikely though as the newly rebuilt and nicely-graded trail is actually quite wide.  To avoid an unexpected swim, stay alert and keep your speed under control, especially if this is your first time around.

Fun Factor

Undulating hills, swooping turns, machine-built trail.  Outstanding!

Trail #6

Driving directions:

Sugarloaf Provincial Park is located just outside Campbellton in the far north east part of the province, approximately 320 km north of Moncton.  To get to the trailhead of this ride, turn off Highway 11 into Sugarloaf Provincial Park and drive through the large parking lot of the park towards the campground.  Instead of turning into the campground, continue straight up the mountain for approximately 2 km on the gravel road until you get to the parking lot of Les Montagnards Outdoor Club.

Route description:

From the parking lot of Les Montagnards, climb for 1.8 km in the trees on the New Access Trail until you reach Prichard Lake.  Ride around the lake on Trail 6.  To get back to your vehicle, descend the same trail you climbed.

Notes:

1.  Pick up trail maps at the Provincial Park’s Visitor Info Centre located by the pond at the big parking lot.
2.  This trail was completed in 2021.  Hopefully it holds up well to the elements.  Time will tell.
3.  The park rents out bikes, including e-mountain bikes, from the Visitor Information Centre.
